1. Where is the Da Lat Sculpture Tunnel address?
Sculpture Tunnel, commonly known as clay tunnel, is located at Da Lat Star tourist area, Ward 4, Da Lat - on the road leading to Tuyen Lam Lake and the famous Truc Lam Zen Monastery.
Surrounded by green pine forests and majestic mountain landscapes, this is an ideal destination for weekend trips with friends and family.
2. The process of forming the amazing Sculpture Tunnel
Sculpture Tunnel was born from the unique idea of Mr. Trinh Ba Dung in 2010. Although it only started with a length of only 2km, up to now the project has spent more than 200 billion VND in investment, becoming a symbol of clay sculpture art in Vietnam.
To create highly durable clay blocks in the cold climate of Da Lat, Mr. Dung spent more than 4 years researching to create a soil formula that is resistant to rain, sun, wind and frost - helping the works last a long time over time.
3. What is special about the design of Da Lat Sculpture Tunnel?
The journey to create Da Lat Sculpture Tunnel is not simply a work of art, but also an inspiring clay story about the history and future of the foggy city. The project is divided into two distinct design phases, each part has a separate theme to recreate the beauty and development of Da Lat through each period.
3.1. Phase 1: Recreating the history of Da Lat's formation
The first part of the Da Lat clay tunnel takes visitors back to the beginning, where wild nature and pristine mountains and forests still reign. From the time when there were no human footprints until 1893 - the milestone when Dr. Yersin set foot on the Lam Vien plateau - every detail is vividly depicted through clay statues. Wild animals, forests and waterfalls are all vividly recreated, making visitors feel like they are lost in a unique outdoor clay museum.
Next was the discovery period of Dr. Yersin, when Da Lat began to transform with the appearance of architectural works bearing bold Western impressions such as the ancient train station, Bao Dai palace, Linh Son pagoda, Xuan Huong lake and Da Lat market. Each sculpture is meticulously cared for, showing the transition from wild nature to a clearly planned city.
3.2. Phase 2: Da Lat present and future
Entering part two, Sculpture Tunnel introduces to visitors the image of Da Lat today through famous architectural symbols: Lycée Yersin school, Pasteur Institute, Con Ga church, Palace hotel, or the city center market. Every detail is carved with high authenticity, bringing a close and authentic feeling of a Da Lat that is both classic and elegant.
At the end of the tunnel is a recreation of Da Lat in the future - a modern, dynamic city with new projects such as Love Valley, Tuyen Lam Lake, Lien Khuong Airport, and highways. The combination of ancient and modern features creates a harmonious whole, helping visitors feel the sustainable development vision of this famous tourist city.
